Knight Riders Cricket Club News story

President's Message 2015 : The mood is upbeat

20 Apr 2015

Winning the Grades is a dream for every Knight Rider. We did it in the past. So, why not this year?”

Going by our past performances, KRCC is recognized as one of the talented cricket clubs playing in Aberdeenshire Grades cricket. At the start of the new season we are not in the mood to look back. We should not be basking in the glory of our past achievements, what has happened is history now. It is time to focus on the biggest challenge for all of us as we start our first major cup outing (Turriff Cup) against Huntly and Lahore Karahi cricket teams on 26th of April 2015 and the first of our grades games for the season.

Nothing can beat the satisfaction of winning the Cup. Whatever we have achieved until now will take a back seat if we realise our biggest dreams is to win the Grades and all cup competitions this time. So, we should look at it as a huge opportunity to not only win the Grades & Cup but also give a new dimension to the cricket in our communities.

However, on a more serious note, our fortunes depend on how our batsmen and bowlers perform in the season. Let us reiterate, it is a team game and we need to click as a unit to make an impact. The teams are shaping up well and I hope we will do really well. The objective for the main batsman’s is to realise that it is important for them to bat as long as possible if their teams are to do well, bowlers to be bowling accurate line & length and look to rip through the opposition and fielders to remain focused. At the same time, it does not mean that we should be under pressure because of high expectations.

We will face tough challenges at every game in the Grades & Cup competitions. No doubt, every match is important, and consistency should be the key for both the KRCC teams. We are aware that some big playing clubs are the biggest threats. But, if we put in the effort, we should not be far behind. The onus is on every individual to come up with special performances and showcase our skills on the field.

Let’s play Tough, Competitive, Fair and Inspiring cricket. I promise Glory days will be back.

Personally, it is a huge honour to lead the Knight Riders club into a successful cricketing season.

Let’s give our best to our club.

With passion and best wishes.
