The first of the ACA Grades match between 2nd Knight Riders and Stonehaven Thistle had all the ingredients of a thriller — electrifying bowling, low scores and an exciting finish.

2nd Knight Riders (37) outsmarted Stonehaven Thistle (35) in a low-scoring match in batsman-friendly conditions in Harlaw Playing fields/Off Groats cricket pitch.

2nd Knight Riders team had prepared itself post match for a long encounter in the field as we were aware that Stonehaven Thistle will bring the game to us with some reputed batsman in their line-up, but it was an opportunity for the Knight Riders bowlers to land the first big punch on the away team.

P. Maniyan and debutant P. Sudhakar had opened the bowling for the Knight Riders against Stonehaven Thistle, with the pair opponent’s wickets. P. Maniyan made it a special day for himself and his team as his efforts (8 wickets for 4 runs) tore into the Stonehaven Thistle batsman. P. Maniyan was ably assisted by good bowling from other ends by P. Sudhakar (1 wkt for 18 runs) and M. Vallatharasu.

2nd Knight Riders began the chase well with Sajeev and man of the day Prashant Maniyan making 37 in under 5 overs and kept the momentum going.

Thomas the Captain of the 2nd Knight Riders adjudicated Prasanth Maniyan as the “Man of Match” for his electrifying performance in the first game of the season.
