24 May 2014

A spirited 1st KnightRiders clinched a sensational 10-run victory against Methlick at Harlaw Academy Grounds on Saturday 24th May.

The KnightRiders were first bundled out for 137 in 45.4 overs but relied on a brilliant bowling display under pressure to stop the visitors at 120 in a nerve-wracking contest, held in dull, chilly conditions(But Thank God it didn't Rain! & yes we all know it is supposed to be Summer !!).Fortunes fluctuated from one team to the other till the very last before host bowlers made amends in the end to fashion the win.

It was another Ok batting display by the KnightRiders who never really got going and were down to 84 for 8 inspite of Nishad(21) & Kannan(19) trying to study the ship earlier in the game. But in the end a partnership of 53 between classy Somu Kumarasamy(30) & Knight of the day Prashanth Mallireddy (22) pushed the total to 137 in 45.2 overs.Methilick's S.Kallepu & S.Kennedy to 3 wickets each.

Chasing a target of 137,Methlick were crusing towards a win and were 100 for 5.However, the visitors innings collapsed because of a brilliant combination of bowling & fielding from KnightRiders .S.Anderson (23) & S.Murphy (41) were the top contributors for Methlick before falling prey to 'The Deccan Express'  P.Mallireddy who finished the game with 20 for 5 in 12 overs.
