Fantastic KnightRiders reaches Final in style

12 Jul 2014

KnightRiders lost the toss and were asked to field first in the semifinals of Bon Accord Cup at Groats Road. Prabhu and Vijay opened the bowling with tight lines and not leaking many runs. But KnightRiders were in for a shock as Vijay was to retire half way through in his 5th Over due to back ache. This bought skipper BalaMurali into the attack and he did make a breakthrough by removing the opener J.Crozier for  5 and soon struck again to remove S.Crozier (2) in similar fashion .

Next Ayyapan was introduced into the attack and struck a vital blow by removing the other opener C.Mason 35 (4x4) who was looking dangerous .He later ripped through StoneHaven middle order and finished with figures of 10-0-33-4. Ayyapan also succeeded with an excellent run out,a nice hit from side on to the stumps to remove A.Gale (1).Part time bowlers Gopinathan & Veerapan took a wicket each towards end of the game .StoneHaven were never able to build a meaningful partnership ,so were easily bundled out for only 103 (thanks to 34 extras ) in 34.1 overs.

Chasing an easy target Vijay & Sajeev opened the innings for KnightRiders. StoneHaven star bowler C.Hinchcliffe dismissed opener Vijay for a golden duck and raised visitor’s hopes for an impossible Win. But in form Sajeev and Gopinathan shattered their hopes by handing Stonehaven their 3rd straight defeat of the season against Knightriders. Ever cool Sajeev played another class innings and scored 34 (3x4) runs. Gopinathan hit a superb 34(4x4).The pair combined well for unbroken 104 partnership for 2nd wicket and sealed an impressive 9 wicket victory for the home team. StoneHaven bowling attack looked toothless except for C.Hinchcliffe and leaked as many as 36 runs as extras.
